Darren
has been interested in film making from a very young
age which stemmed from his love of science fiction
movies. It was because of this he became involved in
a number of amateur film and stage productions
throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Yet
despite Darren's keen interest in film making, it
wasn't until the year 2000 when he finally had the
opportunity to make his first short film which was
shot mostly in one night using a borrowed camera. And
so with the embryonic seed now planted, he quickly
became involved in various other productions before
being asked by other people to make their films as
well.
As a
result of this sudden surge of activity, by the time
2004 came around Darren was ready to step up into the
more serious side of film making by utilising
professional actors, professional quality equipment
and increased budgets.
Darren
finished his last short film in 2012 thereby ending
an impressive average of one completed short film
every year from 2001. He then had plans to make his
first feature film, yet despite having written the
screenplay Darren decided not to pursue the venture
due to a lack of funding and resources.
Throughout
this highly productive 12 year period, Darren amassed
an impressive CV relating to independent film
production work which still continues to grow - see here
From
2013 to 2017 Darren continued working on a number of
productions which were mostly corporate videos for
his workplace. Then in 2018 he turned professional
using the new company name of LCA Productions,
however, the Covid-19 crisis of 2020 crippled his
business which in turn brought LCA Productions to a
close.
From
May 2020 Darren returned to his roots by making some
new lighthearted 'special' videos which were designed
to keep his film making skills active during the
Covid lockdown, his aim being to seek out new film
and video production opportunities once the crisis
had passed.

As a
film maker, Darren is completely self taught having
never been to film school and having no formal
training in the media. His film work is a combination
of imagination, enthusiasm, knowing how he wants
something to look and being able to adhere to rigid
shooting schedules, all of which are important
qualities when working on a production.
