Dag Articles

Background

You've probably discovered from surfing this web site that I am a Science Fiction fan. I love the sci-fi genre, especially movies and TV shows. My introduction into the science fiction social scene (commonly known as "fandom") formally commenced in 1984 when I joined a Melbourne based Star Trek fan club called Austrek - which still operates today - and then a few years later I became an integral part of the Star Wars club: Star Walking Inc.

I've been an active part of fandom ever since.

During my time in fandom, I've been able to develop many of my talents and interests, one of which is writing (of which examples can be found in the Dag Fiction page). I have always had an interest in this endeavour, however once I was introduced to word processors in the early 1990s, I found writing to be a much more enjoyable pass time. Although I may not have been the best writer around, it didn't stop me from writing many articles for the Austrek, and later other fan club, newsletters. My articles covered all facets of science fiction movies, TV shows, clubs, historical events and even myself.

It's these articles that I'm sharing with you here.

Most of the articles posted here are from the early to mid 1990's which means that many of the references will either be somewhat vague or at the very least out of date. There are also occasions where I make references to other people who were part of the fan scene at the time.

Since I've provided no explanation as to what each article is about, the links are the article titles themselves (which is how they would've appeared in the original publication anyway). Unfortunately there are no pictures as these were usually added in later by the editor.

Some of the articles were never fully completed and as a result you may find my standard XXXXXXX appearing in places where I was supposed to fill in some missing information but never did.

Frankly I don't expect anyone to actually read any of these, however I'm just glad I've been able to dig them up from the depths of my archives so they can see the light of day once again.

If you do choose to read any, enjoy.
